In order to facilitate essential electrical work, there will be a loss of power to the Lloyd Building which will affect the Data Centre on the following date:
- 6:30pm Wednesday 22nd August until 3:30am Thursday 23rd August, 2018
This loss of power will necessitate the powering off of all affected equipment in the Lloyd Data Centre in advance of those times. It will take us some time to return all services to production once power is restored. As a consequence HPC services in the Lloyd will be offline from:
- 1pm Wednesday 22nd August until 1pm Thursday 23rd August, 2018
We apologise for the inconvenience that this necessary work will cause.
The following clusters are hosted in the Lloyd Building Data Centre and will be affected by this power outage:
Reservations have been placed in the queue's on each of the clusters as follows:
- 1pm on Wednesday the 22nd of August until 1pm on Thursday the 23rd of August.
The length of the downtime is required due to the considerable amount of time needed to power down and back on all systems in the Data Centre, not just the cluster, and ensure they have returned to service properly. We would hope to return the clusters to service as soon as possible after the outages.
This loss of power will also result in the network maintained by Research IT on the 2nd floor of the Lloyd Building and the small number of network ports in the CRANN building that are on the Research IT network being unavailable during the power outages.
DRIS - Digital Collections
The infrastructure that hosts the Digital Collections site will have the following downtime window:
- 4pm on Wednesday the 22nd of August until 11am on Thursday the 23rd of August. With a further "At Risk" period: 11am to 1pm Thursday the 23rd of August.
