Interactive Resources
Some applications may require a Graphical User Interface (GUI), or are interactive programs which are resource-intensive (such as CPU or RAM).
These may include applications such as:
- matlab
- fluent/ansys
- dl_poly
- gams
- gaussian
- spm
- stata
- octave
- plink
- R/perl/python/ruby scripts which are resource-heavy
Where to Run
Rather than running these applications on the headnode, where they may use excessive resources, you must run them on a compute node.
How to Run
You must request an interactive allocation through the queuing system.
Interactive resources which use GUI interfaces can be executed from a Linux or Mac OSX or Windows desktop. It is done using X-forwarding over an SSH tunnel.
