TCHPC Spin-out company awarded the Trinity College Dublin Innovation Award for 2010

The Trinity College Dublin Innovation Award for 2010 has been won by the founders of Creme Software, a company which assesses consumer exposure risk to food contamination and environmental concerns. It was founded as a TCD spin-out company of the Trinity Centre for High Performance Computing from research in mathematical physics and medicine at the University.

HPC Europa2 Next Transnational Access Call open

HPC-Europa2: Pan European Research Infrastructure on High Performance Computing - Research visits using High Performance Computing

HPC-Europa2 is an EU funded FP7 programme which allows scientists to carry out short "transnational access" research visits to collaborate with a research department working in a similar field. Applicants can be working in any discipline, but MUST require the use of High Performance Computing facilities (for large-scale computer modelling, etc.)

Research from TCD Physics and TCHPC on Solar Mass Ejections in Nature publication

A team of researchers from the School of Physics and the Trinity Centre for High Performance Computing have announced new insights into the mechanisms by which solar storms travel from the Sun to the Earth. Their results, published in the journal Nature Communications, will enable scientists to better forecast the arrival time and impact of solar storms on our planet. The research was funded by Science Foundation Ireland.

PRACE - call for proposals for compute time now open

PRACE: Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe, allows researchers from across Europe to apply for time on high-performance computers from a series of hosting nations via a central peer review process. A call for proposals - the 1st PRACE Regular call - for computer time on the PRACE machine is now open. Click here for more details.

Collaboration of Irish & US scientists successful in the DEISA Extreme Computing Initiative

Researchers from the TCD School of Mathematics have been awarded access to large-scale supercomputing resources under the DEISA Extreme Computing Initiative (DECI-6). DEISA is the Distributed European Infrastructure for Supercomputing Applications, an EU FP7 Research Infrastructure Project.

College Internet Outage Thurs 27th May 7.30-9am

College will be experiencing an Internet connectivity outage on Thursday 27th May between 7.30-9.00am. This will include all TCHPC services.

The outage is to facilitate work being undertaken by ISS to upgrade the College Internet connection from 1Gbps to 10Gbps.

TCIN Training Course in SPM

TCIN (Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience - http://www.neuroscience.tcd.ie/) will be running training courses on SPM.

The courses will be run on Friday afternoons for 5 weeks on the following dates:
